It has been raining for the three weeks we have been here and yesterday the rain FINALLY stopped and the sun came out. It has caused a lot of flooding in some areas. It has been interesting to be watching t.v. with a fire going for several evenings. It was 45 degrees here and 90 degrees at home!!! Incredible. And it is JUNE!!! So I wore short sleeves yesterday. Went for a run today and feel much better. We should continue to have better weather now. YEAH!!! How about America beating Germany in soccer? As I was told, it was a friendship game and the German team was not the A, nor the B team. It was the C team. They let us win! HA.
I have cooked two meals. One was on Monday... meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and homemade banana creme pie. Not such a hard meal to figure out and they seemed to like it. But today's meal was mexican and a bit more challenging. You would not believe how many different cheeses and meat they have (not monterrey jack or cheddar). YUMMY!!! But they don't necessarily have what YOU are looking for... I would love to have all the options though. My Aunt has made some yummy meals that I don't usually get at home.
I am missing my Zumba routine and between that and still having to take some meds for my mystery rash AND of course eating and drinking what I want, I'll be reluctant to be putting on my bathing suit. Not to mention no sun!!! LOL
It has been interesting to watch how Joshua and his cousin, Hendrik, manage to work things out. They have played well together but they are getting to be a little more like brothers now... ;) I think they will look back and remember this time fondly.
Joshua loves the big pillows and feather beds. We bought them and will be mailing them home. Bryson was the same way when he came and had to have a pillow. We spent some time in the city on Mon and Tues. We ate at the famous Bratwursthäusle Nuremberg, Since 1313, the original Nuremberg sausages are grilled on beech wood fire in the shadow of St. Sebald. Let's just say that the Nuremberg bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad are delicious! I will have to relay more info on the trip with photos later.
We ate at our family friend's, Gisela and Peter, last night and celebrated his 71st birthday with an array of yummy food and drink. It has been wonderful to spend the time with them and with my cousin and family. I know it is challenging to have additional people stay with you but the time together is precious. We leave tomorrow for Memmingen to visit a family that we met in St. Augustine. They have a son a little older than Joshua. They lived in America for 17 years but are German nationals and returned here 3 years ago. We may stop by Legoland on the way. Hard to believe we have just two more weeks to go. I need to get caught up with my blog before I go home or it will not happen!!!
